My search for a Lancaster built shed ends at Fox's Country Sheds
My search for a Lancaster County Shed
Our family has been on a quest for a backyard Shed. You just can't imagine the possiblities available to a consumer in Lancaster County, when shopping for a shed that doesn't look like every other mini-barn!
In our old home on
Amity Drive in Manheim Township , we had a great wooden shed. But, many of the properties that I visit while selling Lancaster real estate that have wooden sheds all seem to be worn and in need of paint at some point. Plus, I don't think my development would allow a wood shed.
So, we've been leaning towards a vinyl shed. The thought of being able to clean out the garage of gardening tools and being able to effortlessly pull in without the fear of a rake falling on my head is pretty exciting. Now, the decision would come down to just what style of shed I prefer to get.
I always thought a shed is a shed. But I was wrong! There are the chalet styles, the cottage styles, the workshop styles. There are those that are victorian in style or offer a pretty little front porch. Then, there are the "villa" sheds. I never thought of a shed as a "villa" before I looked at these. I love the sheds with a little front porch nook, only I doubt I would be able to every keep it looking clean and inviting. After all, it's a shed! One I particularly liked was a shed and greenhouse combined. All I would have to do is fine time to garden and my seedlings would sprout in no time if I had a potting shed like the ones I've seen!
Then, I've seen matching little dog houses and wonder if my pups would like a little outdoor home that matches our new shed. I'm sure I'll be driving my husband crazy with this one, but I never realized what an important decision it could be!
As I've been driving around Lancaster County peeking into others backyards, I've realized I love the look of a crisp, new looking vinyl clad shed that matches the front of the home. I've even seen one with keystone trim on the shed windows, matching the keystone trim on the home.
Once I narrow down a style of shed I like (and that can take a while!) I'll have to narrow down where to buy this newfound obsession of mine! There are endless shed manufacturers in Lancaster County! Some of the quality is better than others. Some claim to be Amish built, but I don't think they are. Others are clearly built on-site and you can tell the quality difference between some manufacturers.
I always thought Lancaster County was probably the shed capital of the world, and now I am pretty sure it is! If anyone has a favorite shed manufacturer in Lancaster, please feel free to let me know who it is, and why!
I miss my old shed at our old home, but I certainly don't miss the groundhog that lived beneath it. If anyone has any tips for keeping groundhogs away from my new shed (once I decide on one!) I'd appreciate your sharing those tips!
This was a very rambling post (probably too much caffeine today) but I won't "shed" any tears over it!

edited to add that I have found the
PERFECT shed at
