Lancaster Real Estate Sales Jeannie Kontis

I can help you with every aspect of buying or selling your Lancaster home because I’m experienced, because I’m professional . . . and because I care.

I'd love to tell you a bit about me.  Personally, I have been married for 23 years to a wonderful man, Adam, who is very supportive of my career goals as a full-time Real Estate Agent in Lancaster PA.  Many times, when arriving home from evening property showings, he already has dinner on the table and waiting for me - what more can I ask for!  He is the owner of a local recording studio in downtown Lancaster, and I enjoy listening to the various types of music that he records there.  I am also the mother of two sons, 21 years old and 18 years old, who make my world go 'round and sometimes make my head spin - but I love them dearly!  My oldest has currently acheived his dream of receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Film Production.  Watch for that kid on the red carpet one of these days!  My younger son recently graduated from his Senior year at Manheim Township High School and will be attending college in Denver, CO in the fall.  We share our home and hearts with our two very special pups, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels - Dugan and Domino.

Homes in Lancaster Bob Wells Group Real EstateMy Professional Life - I am a member of the award-winning team, The Bob Wells Realty Group of Long & Foster Real Estate in Lancaster PA .  Throughout my professional career I have striven to provide my clients - Buyers and Sellers of Homes in Lancaster - with the professional, reliable and courteous service they not only expect - but deserve.  I take great pride in the large amount of referrals I receive from past home buyers and home sellers in who have been happy with my support of their transactions, and I appreciate them deeply.  I also take great pride in helping first time home buyers achieve their American Dream of Homeownership.  I believe everyone deserves an opportunity to own their personal piece of the world, and am excited to be able to refer them to lenders who can assist them in achieving home loans that can make this happen.  I also take great pride in helping empty nesters, retirees and 55+ active adult community buyers in Lancaster. My personal favorites, though, are historic homes and the attention to detail and character that these homes offer in their own unique way.

Luxury home buyers and sellers in receive attentive marketing through my Prudential Luxury Homes for Sale campaign, assuring them the attention to detail they have come to expect in an upscale real estate market, while I help them to enjoy the success in home ownership that they have worked hard to acheive.

Being a long-time resident of Manheim Township in Lancaster County, I am prepared to assist you with whatever your Lancaster Real Estate needs may be throughout the Lancaster County area-- Selling a Home, Buying a Home, Moving up to your Executive Home, Relocation, and Investment & Commercial Properties.  It would be my pleasure to get to know you, as you have now had an opportunity to get to know me!

Interview with Jeannie

How many years have you been in Real Estate?
I have been a licensed Realtor for 8 years, but have been personally investing in Real Estate for over 20 years.  I have owned several commercial, multi-units and of course residential properties, as well as co-owned and operated several successful local businesses with my husband.  We have an entreprenuerial spirit!

What is the average home price in your market?
Prices vary greatly in the Lancaster County area, depending on the location and school district.  It seems the average that I see often is in the mid to low 200's for re-sale homes.  New construction in popular school districts such as Manheim Township and Hempfield can go far above those prices.

Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
As far as new construction goes, many new home developments are now being built as planned communities. These communities offer smaller, easy to care for lots, while offering open space and walking trails for recreation. This allows the homeowner to spend minimum free time on yard work, yet still enjoying the great outdoors. Our County also offers many opportunities for a homeowner to live in a historic or older home, either an old farmhome or farmette, or victorian townhouse. There are many diverse opportunities for whatever your tastes might be.  Active Adult 55+ communities are gaining in popularity, and we have several new neighborhoods to meet an active baby boomer's needs.

Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I enjoy puzzles and challenges - and I find both seem to come into play in my Real Estate career. Seeing a deal come to fruition successfully, while keeping both the buyer and the seller happy with the terms, can truly be a challenge at times but one that I welcome and enjoy. I especially appreciate helping first-time buyers purchase their first home, and successfully assisting families who are relocating while making it as stress-free as possible for them.

What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
It's very challenging when Sellers have ended up over-extending themselves with equity loans on their homes, sometimes owing far more on the home than it is worth on the re-sale market. Many times this refinance or equity loan that they have taken was not properly explained to them, or the home has been appraised at a much higher value than what the market value would bring, putting homeowners in a very tight situation when it is time to sell.

Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
A special client was a widowed older woman who had a parcel of land that had been in her husband's family for many years. It turned out that it was landlocked, but I was able to secure a buyer for her successfully, and she was so happy that she wrote a poem for me. She trusted me completely, even after many other agents had told here there was nothing she could do with her landlocked property. I was happy that I was able to gain her trust, as well as bring her the price we both knew that land was worth. I still have her poem, and use it in my marketing and on my website as a special testimonial of my work ethic and professionalism.

What is your best characteristic?
I realize that purchasing or selling a home can be a very emotional time for most people. I believe that I can easily put myself in others shoes and realize what they are going through. From a business perspective, I am a bit of a work-a-holic, and love challenges and finding unique ways to market a home for sale.

Who or what inspires you the most?
I feel most inspired by the fact that we, as Americans, have the right to purchase our own little piece (or big piece) of the world - namely, real estate. I think everyone deserves an opportunity at home-ownership, which is why I get particularly satisfied when working with first-time buyers.  The joy they feel on settlement day, after the jitters are gone, is priceless.

What is the best advice you ever received?
I have been told that the people that I surround myself with reflect "who I am" - and I truly believe that. I surround myself with professional, dedicated teammates, who reflect my own dedication to ethics and morals, not only in my business but in my personal life, as well.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Although I love our beautiful historic Lancaster County and I grew up in New York City - I would love to live on the island of Santorini in Greece. I have visited there twice already, and don't think I can ever get enough of that beautiful peaceful view. It is a place that everyone should try to experience at least once in their life. My goal is to one day purchase a small home there, or on a nearby island.  Any island will do!
